New Delhi, Dec 6 (UNI) A day after the Left parties staged a walk out in the Rajya Sabha over the Indo-US Nuclear deal, Congress President Sonia Gandhi today lambasted the Left Front Government in West Bengal for the handling of the Nandigram issue and asked it to ensure that such incidents do not recur.

"The cult of violence and the manner in which armed party cadres prevented the law and order machinery from fulfilling its obligations to the peole are most unfortunate," she told her Party MPs at the General Body meting of the Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP).

Terming violent incidents in Nandigram as "tragic and painfful," she recalled the resolution adopted at the November 17 AICC session and also the debate in both Houses of Parliament.

"A permanent solution must be found to ensure that such incidents do not occur again and again," Ms Gandhi said at the meeting, attended by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
