New Delhi, Dec 6 (UNI) Samsung Electronics Co Ltd, leading telecom equipment maker, today launched its high-end 'Metal 5' priced at Rs 18,999.

''The phone will be available in the market by end of this month,'' said company General Manager (GSM Marketing) Asim Warsi.

The handset is equipped with a five megapixel camera with auto focus, light sensors, image editor, mobile tracker, emergency SMS alert, netfront browser, internal memory of 55 MB internal memory, which is expandable up to two GB.

''The phone is equipped with a unique FM recording and has a TV output as well, so that you can plug it to a TV and make presentations and share data as well,'' said Mr Warsi.

It will be imported from Korea, he said, adding that the firm does not plan to manufacture the handset in the country.

''There is high consumer demand for gadget convergence in India. Consumers opt for camera phones that are much more convenient for capturing spontaneous shots,'' said Samsung Telecommunications India Managing Director H C Ryu.

Almost one billion camera phones will be sold worldwide by 2010, he said, adding that the imaging segment is growing at six per cent and one-third of mobile phones sold in the country have built-in cameras.

Mr Warsi said the company will launch more phones in these categories as they will grow further.

The phones with two and three megapixels will do good business in the next year and soon the five megapixxel cameras will be a rage, said Mr Warsi.
