NCM urges Modi to uphold Constitutional principles
New Delhi, Dec 6 (UNI) Taking serious note of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's alleged justification of Sohrabuddin's murder, the National Commission for Minorities(NCM) today called upon him not to forgo the values and principles enshrined in the Constitution for electoral gains.
''Press reports of the Chief Minister's utterances targeting the Muslim community are tantamount to a mockery of the rule of law and indeed of the Consitution itself,'' NCM Chairman Mohammad Shafi Qureshi said here.
He should maintain and uphold the dignity and propriety of public life, he said.
''The heat and dust of an election campaign should not be an excuse to trample the values and principles of our Republic,'' said Mr Qureshi added.
