Lack of women participation resulted in SP's defeat: Mulayam

Etawah, Dec 6 (UNI) Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today accepted that his party was defeated in the state Assembly election due to lack of women participation in panchayat and cooperative committees.

''Had more women gained entry in panchayat and cooperative committees, the SP would have got rip-roaring success in the Vidhan Sabha election,'' Mr Yadav said addressing a gathering at the ongoing Saifai Mahotasav here.

The former Defence Minister accused the Mayawati led-Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) regime of hatching a conspiracy to quash the selected posts in the panchayat and cooperative committees.

The SP leader exhorted SP workers to ready themselves for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections and commence preparations in this regard.
