Kerala HC tells doctors to withdraw stir

Kochi, Dec 6 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today orally directed the agitating Government doctors in the State to withdraw their over month-long strike and posted futher hearing in the case till tomorrow.

A Division Bench, comprising Chief Justice H L Dattu and Justice K T Sankaran, gave the direction while hearing a public interest litigation, challenging the ongoing strike of the doctors under the banner of the Kerala Government Medical Officers Association (KGMOA).

The Bench orally directed the doctors to withdraw their strike and discuss their grievances with the Government.

Counsel for the KGMOA submitted that there was no cessation of work in the hospitals and the doctors were attending their duties.

Advocate General C P Sudhakara Prasad argued that the ongoing strike was illegal.

The doctors have been on a work-to-rule agitation to press their demand for higher pay scales.
