Karthika Brahmotsavam begins

Tirupati, Dec 6 (UNI) The nine-day annual 'Karthika Brahmotsavam' at Sri Padmavathi Temple at Tiruchanoor, began here today with 'Dwajarohanam' (hoisting of temple flag).

The flag, with the image of the Sacred Elephant, the celestial carrier of the Goddess, was hoisted amidst chanting of hymns.

In the evening, the presiding deity was taken out in a procession on 'Chinna Sesha Vahanam' through the four mada streets of the temple.

The ''Unjal Seva'' was performed before the procession.
