New Delhi, Dec 6 (UNI) Buoyed by the success of last year, leading Italian opera house Parma Royal Theatre Orchestra will again perform at Purana Quila here on December 10.

The 67-member orchestra will render a number of classical arias from well-known operas by some of Italy's best musicians like Verdi, Donizzetti, Rossini, conductor Donato Renzetti and Soprano Silvia Dalla Benetta.

The event is being organised by the Italian Embassy in association with Indian Council for Cultural Relations and Delhi Tourism.

Addressing a news conference, Delhi Tourism CMD Sanat Kaul said,'' Last year too, we used the same venue, Purana Quila, for the event. Whenever we organise events, whether it is Qutub Festival, Garden Festival or Mango Festival, we try to use historical monuments as backgrounds.'' ''Music has always been an intrinsic part of Indian and Italian cultures. The people of both countries are in love with music. So, when music is blended with cultural heritages, the end result is magnificent,'' he added.

Italian Cultural Institute Director Patrizia Raveggi, who was also present on the occasion, said,'' The performance of last year drew a fabulous response. Once again we have chosen the same venue for the same event, and I hope we will taste the same kind of success we did last year. India and Italy both have rich cultural heritages and when music is added to them, what we end up getting is nothing short of magic.'' She added: ''The orchestra will start performing at 1830 hrs and since there is dark at that time during this season in Delhi, a good lighting arrangement will be used, which will be like an icing on the cake and will leave the audiences enthralled and capitvated.''
