Free power connection for SC/ST BPL families

Jabalpur, Dec 6 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Eastern Region Power Distribution Company Limited (MPERPDC) has implemenetd 'Kutir Jyoti' scheme in Jabalpur, Sagar and Rewa divisons under the Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrification Scheme.

''Under the scheme, a special provision has been made to provide free connection to SC/ST beneficiaries surviving below poverty line,'' MPERPDC Public Relation Officer Mridul Khare said, adding that 100 per cent relaxation would be provided to them with respect to registration fee, meter fee and conncetion fee.

Mr Khare said SC/ST consumers would be required to deposit Rs 40 as security money, while general catagory consumers have to deposit Rs 90. Besides, revenue stamp expenditure would come Rs 1.

He added that new connections would be provided after identification of beneficiaries.
