Couple nabbed for making synthetic ''desi ghee''

Ambala, Dec 6 (UNI) Police have nabbed a couple here for allegedly manufacturing ''fake desi ghee' after raiding their premises in Kasera Bazar locality here.

The couple, Sanjiv Jindal and his wife Pratibha, were rounded up for interrogation about the functioning of illegal business after police recovered about a quintal of ''ghee'' manufactured artificially with the help of chemicals and vegetable oils and ghee.

According to information, the couple with assistance of the labour were packaging the artificially manufactured desi ghee for sale in the market.

Packets of different sizes were also recovered along with stamps and labels.

A Health Department team headed by the CMO also reached the spot and took samples of the substandard ghee. The team would confirm after medical examination as to how harmful was the ''fake ghee'' for humans.

This is the second factory of synthetic ghee unearthed by the Police in the district. Earlier, one Anil Kumar was arrested for manufacture of similar ghee from Jalbehra Road Ambala City from where a large quantity of fake desi ghee was recovered.
