Chhattisgarh HC orders protection for lovers

Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, Dec 6 (UNI) The Chhattisgarh High Court today ordered police protection for a couple following constant threats from the woman's infuential family.

While hearing a plea by Mr Amit Badle alias Aasim Khan, who embraced Islam to marry Ms Shaina Khan, Justice Satish Agnihotri directed the Superintendent of Police, Mahasamund, to ensure the couple's safety.

The couple performed 'nikah' on July 27, 2007 before a local maulvi. Shaina's family were against the marriage despite Mr Badle's conversion and the threats continued even after the couple moved to another town.
