3 arrested for demanding Rs 5 lakh as extortion money

Kolhapur, Dec 6 (UNI) Local Crime Branch (LCB) police today arrested three persons for demanding Rs five lakh from a trader at the city's Gangavesh area.

According to police sources, the three arrested have been identified as Amol Madhukar Jadhav, Raju Ananda Mane and Sanjay Sadashiv Kolhe.

The trader, identified as Satish Ratanlal Harlalka had purchased a flat at the city's posh area Rajarampuri locality, which came to the notice of the trio. They approached the trader and demanded Rs five lakh from him and threatened him that they will not allow him to reside in the flat if he does not fullfil their demand.

The trader lodged a complaint with the LCB police, who laid a trap and arrested the three while they were accepting the money at a hotel here, police sources added.
