Underdog Jammu and Kashmir beat formidable Tripura
Patiala, Dec 5 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir rose like a phoenix to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat against the formidable Tripura outfit on the final day of the Cooch Behar Trophy (Under-19) here today at the Dhruv Pandove Cricket Stadium.
Overnight 143 for 6 in 46 overs, Tripura required 48 runs for victory, but lost the nerves to fall short by a baker's dozen as they were bowled out for 177 in the morning session.
Mohammad Muddassar ripped apart the strong Tripura batting line-up to capture 5 wickets, conceding 61 runs. He was ably backed up by Manik Gupta, who bagged 4 wickets, giving away 59 runs.
By virtue of incredible 13-run victory, J and K earned five points. They will now play against Goa in Cooch Behar Trophy (Under-19) here from December 8 to 11.
Final score: Tripura 275 all out in the first innings. J&K 77 all out in the first innings. J and K 388 all out in the second innings (after the follow on) Tripura 177 all out in the second innings.
