Tiger skin seized from scribe's house;Four arrested

Kendrapada, Dec 05 (UNI) The forest officials and the local police during a joint raid yesterday seized a hide of a tiger and valuable timbers from the residence of a scribe and arrested four people in connection with the incident.

According to Forest officer A K Pradhan, the arrested poachers and scribe had laid a trap inside the forest and killed the tiger.

Later they removed the skin of the animal and kept it in the house with the purpose to sell it in the market.

All the four arrested were booked under Wildlife Protection Act, 1972,T.T-1980 Act and section-37 of Forest Act. They were later produced in the court of Judicial Magistrate(First Class) today at Jajpur and remanded to jail custody.

The scribe, the forest official said, managed to flee from the scene during the raid. '' The seized tiger's hide will be sent to forensic laboratory at Bhubaneswer for its examination, '' sources said.
