Sawai Gandharva Music Festival to begin tomorrow

Pune, Dec 5 (UNI) The 53rd edition of ''Sawai Gandharva Music Festival'' will begin tomorrow at the New English School, Ramanbaug here.

Convenor of the Festival, Rambhau Joshi told UNI that the festival will last for three days and around 25 artistes will perform.

Answering to the speculations of whether Pandit Bhimsen Joshi would sing at the festival, Rambhau said, ''It is highly unlikely due to his health. The last time Panditji performed was in 2003.

Since then his health has not permitted him to perform, however, he may spring a surprise by coming to encourage a few performers.'' Meanwhile, when contacted Panditji said that he may sing a ''bhajan'' or two if his health permits.
