Farmers, workers block rail, road traffic in Punjab

Moga, Dec 5 (UNI) Activists of ten farmers, labour and technical services Unions and employees of Electricity Board today, in response to joint call, blocked rail and road traffic at one dozen places in Punjab to protest against privatisation moves.

The activists held up rail and road traffic at Badhni Kalan, Bathinda, Muktsar, Doda, Mansa, Barnala, Ludhiana, Jalalabad West, Kapurthala, Sultanpur Lodhi and in Amritsar district for over three hours from 12 noon.

At Badhni Kalan more than five hundred activists of various organisation blocked road traffic for three hours.

According to Sukhdev Singh Kokari Kalan general secretary BKU (Ograhon group) activists of farmers and other unions were strongly protesting against the state government's decision of unbundling privatisation of the PSEB and were also demanding scraping of electricity bill 2003.

Sukhdev Singh kokari claimed that activists blocked rail and road traffic at over a dozen places successfully and peacefully.
