Coast Guard rescues two fishermen from jaws of death

Port Blair, Dec 4 (UNI) The Indian Coast Guard has rescued two fishermen from the jaws of death.

Fifty-nine-old Fatique Basu and Bhabin Majumdar (40) of Wandoor village of South Andaman, broke into tears when rescuers brought them here safely late last evening. They were missing for last four days since December 1.

The Coast Guard Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre had received an SOS stating that out of six fishing boats, which had departed from Wandoor Jetty of South Andaman on November 29, one boat with fishermen did not return, Commandant Akshay Jain told UNI today.

After two failed aerial surveys, the third attempt made a successful sighting of the missing boat near South Sentinel Island with 2 fishermen on it, Mr Jain said.

Then the Coast Guard rescued the men and brought them to Port Blair yesterday.
