CBI registers case against four MCD officials, raids residences

New Delhi, Dec 5 (UNI) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today conducted searches at five residential premises of four engineers of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and a proprietor of a construction company after registering a case against them for cheating the MCD of Rs 54 lakh during 2005-07.

A spokesperson of the Bureau said the CBI registered the case against an Executive Engineer, an Assistant Engineer and two Junior Engineers of MCD, Rohini Zone, Delhi and a proprietor of a Construction Company and others on the allegation that they conspired among themselves and, by abusing their official position, cheated the MCD of Rs 54 lakh during 2005-07 in the name of several works relating to development of parks, including fixing of iron grills at different MCD parks in Sector 16, Rohini, without actually executing the works.

The parks were earlier handed over to MCD by DDA.

The CBI also conducted raids on the residential premises. The locations in which searches are taking place are Mian Wali Nagar, Pushpanjali Enclave, (Pritampura) Rohini and MCD Colony at Model Town-III.
