BMC prepared for Ambedkar's death anniversary

Mumbai, Dec 5 (UNI) The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has made all preparations for the 51st death anniversary of Babasaheb Ambedkar, the architect of the Constitution of India, at Chaityabhoomi, here where lakhs of people are expected visit the mortal remains of Ambedkar.

Releasing an informative booklet today, Municipal Commissioner Jairaj Phatak said ''The BMC has spent Rs 60 lakh for the welfare of the people attending the place and has made adequate arrangements for the same.'' The booklet contains informative details about the direction, various water arrangements and shelters available on the Shivaji Park ground at Dadar in Central Mumbai.

On the occasion, Rashtriya Republican Party general secretary Nitin More will shower flower petals from a helicopter. It is for the first time that a political leader will do so and Mumbai Mayor Shubha Raul will accompany him in the ride.

Mrs Shubha Raul said ''The Corporation has made arrangements for drinking water. Apart from that, it has also constructed various temporary shelters at the venue, 300 bathing points and around 550 temporary toilets have been set up for lakhs of people who are expected here.'' The Corporation has also installed 36 CCTV's and constructed towers to monitor the movement of the people. In addition to these, 4 boats have been deployed in the sea, she added.
