New Delhi, Dec 4 (UNI) Describing 'ahimsa' (non violence) as the only way to establish peace in the world, renowned saints today said resorting to non violence is necessary to make the world stronger.

''The aim of the 21st Century should be the foundation of 'ahimsa' and peace. 'Ahimsa' and peace will not befall on the Earth from heavens. Man will have to make efforts for the same,''the Dalai Lama said at a meet organised on the occasion of inauguration of ahimsa Paryavaran Sadhana Mandir where renowned saints including the Jain saint Acharya Vidyananda and Jagatguru Shankracharya Swaroopanand Saraswati, were present.

''It is man who has misused his talent and developed arms which can destroy the world. Consequently, we are witnessing violence everywhere,''Acharya Vidyananda said.

The Dalai Lama said, 'ahimsa' can be brought to the world by encouraging vegetarianism.

''By resorting to non vegetarian food, man is becoming violent.

Violence can only be stopped by resorting to vegetarianism,''he said.

Others who spoke on the occasion were Khwaja Afzal Nizami, Father Karam Masih and Ruhani sant Rajender Singh.
