Mahindra United hold JCT in opening NFL encounter

Ludhiana, Dec 4: Punjab's premier soccer outfit JCT Phagwara were held to a goalless draw by Mahindra United of Mumbai in the opening encounter of the 12th National Football League at the Guru Nanak stadium here today.

Following the draw, both teams shared one point each.

Last year's runners up JCT, despite dominating the match, failed to penetrate the Mahindra defences.

JCT strikers Sunil Shettri, Praveen Kumar and Eduardo D'Silva, despite making inroads into Mahindra side many a time, failed to hit the mark.

On the other hand, Mahindra United were more content with playing a defensive game and left little room for the JCT strikers to move freely on the ground.
