Habibullah Bhat is acting chairperson J

Srinagar, Dec 4 (UNI) Mr Habibullah Bhat has assumed the charge of acting chairperson of the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) in Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said today.

They said Mr Bhat, a member of the SHRC, took over the charge from Justice (Retd) M Y Kawoosa, who retired on November 30.

Mr Bhat had joined the SHRC in August last year.

He had retired from active service in 1999 as the Principal District Sessions Judge, Srinagar, After attaining superannuation, Mr Bhat also served as a guest lecturer in the Law Department of Kashmir University and continued till his joining the SHRC.

Mr Bhat assumed the SHRC charge on December 1.
