Mangalore, Dec 4 (UNI) BJP Karnataka unit President D V Sadananda Gowda today urged the Election Commission to hold elections to the State Assembly in February next year.

Addressing newspersons here, he said, ''February will be the most suitable period to hold the elections as annual examinations were slated for April and May and with the onset of summer, it will not be conducive to hold the elections.'' Alleging that the Congress was making all out efforts to postpone the polls, he urged the EC not to succumb to any such pressure.

Mr Gowda reiterated that the BJP would not have truck with any party and fight the elections to all 224 seats on its own. ''Even after the elections, the party would not enter into understanding with any other party,'' he announced.

To a query, he said former Minister G T Deve Gowda, who had shown inclination to join the BJP, had sought a week's time to take a final decision after discussing the issue with his followers.
