Umeshchandra Sarangi takes over as NABARD chairman

Mumbai, Dec 3 (UNI) Umeshchandra Sarangi, currently Principal Secretary to Maharashtra Chief Minister, today took over as chairman of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD).

Mr Sarangi, a senior IAS officer of 1977 cadre, is an expert in agriculture, disaster management and rural development.

This is the first time that a bureaucrat has taken over as the chairman of NABARD, a Bank release said here.

He assumed charge at the Bank's office today, it added.
