Showcause notice issued against 15 officers in Egg Scam: Antony

New Delhi, Dec 3 (UNI) The Government today said showcause notices were served to all the 15 officers involved in the 'Egg Scam' in the Northern Command of the Army.

Defence Minister A K Antony said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha that a case of supply of underweight eggs had been reported in the recent past in the Northern Command of the Army.

''The weight of an egg was indicated as 40 grams in the contract document instead of 48 grams, in contravention of the stipulated norms in the execution of contract for fresh eggs in the Northern Command for the years 2004-05 to 2006-07,'' he added.
