New Delhi, Dec 3 (UNI) The Republican Party of India (RPI) (Athawale) today demanded the arrest of the Director and Producer of the film "Aaja Nachle" for hurting the sentiments of Dalits through its title song.

The party held Producer Yash Raj, Director Anil Mehra, Lyricist Piyush Mishra and Script Writer Jaideep Sahni responsible for the song which contained the line "Mahalle Mein Kaisi Maara-Mar Hai, Bole, Mochi bhi Khud ko Sunar Hai", (It is being said in every locality, a cobbler considers himself a goldsmith).

The film is facing opposition in many states including UP, Punjab and Haryana, even as the producer of the film had tendered an unconditional apology and assured to delete the song from the film.

Addressing newspersons, RPI leader Ramdas Athawale (MP) however said the apology was enough for the offence committed by the film producers.

He also sought the resignation of Censor Board Chairman Sharmila Tagore for giving clearance to the film.

Mr Athawale also approached Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister R S Patil to take legal recourse against the film failing which the RPI would resort to a road blockade all over the state from December 7, 2007.
