NDA govt committed to launching welfare schemes for Mahadalit:CM

Patna, Dec 3 (UNI) Undeterred by criticism from Union Steel and Fertiliser Minister Ram Vilas Paswan for an attempt to divide dalits, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today reiterated his government's commitment to launch several welfare schemes for Mahadalits (most downtrodden) in the state.

After the Janta Durbar, Mr Kumar told reporters here that there was no point in the criticism by Mr Paswan on the state government's move to launch welfare schemes for Mahadalits as Constitution envisages protection and well being of all section of the society.

The state government was only honouring its Constitution by earmarking funds for special welfare schemes to Mahadalits to enable their uplift, he added.

'' On a suggestion from Mr Paswan that Bihar government should have opted for a constitution of 'Safai Karamchari Ayog' instead of formation of Mahadailit Ayog,'' Mr Kumar said adding that people had given him the mandate to work for welfare of every section of the society.
