TN Officer selected as delegate for UNFCCC conference

Chennai, Dec 1 (UNI) A Ramachandran, Forest Utilisation officer of Tamil Nadu Forest Department, had been selected by the Centre as a member of the Indian delegation to participate in the United Nations Framework Convention On Climate change (UNFCCC) conference to be held at Bali, Indonesia from December three to 14.

Mr Ramachandran was one among the four delegates nominated at national level by the Centre to attend the event, an official release here said.

The protocol conference was being held every year at different countries to discuss various policies and scientific matters to mitigate climate change and adaptation issues.

''This climate change conference is expected to be attended by representatives of 183 countries across the world,'' the release said.

Mr Ramachandran is currently a member of the National Committee in climate change sub-group on CDM-forestry issues, had done a pioneering work in the country on carbon management in forestry to mitigate climate change, the release added.
