Srinagar, Dec 1 (UNI) The National Conference (NC), main opposition party in the Jammu and Kashmir, said that the revenue expenditure in the state has been increasing at a rapid pace and less money is available for developmental works under the state plan.
the legislative party leader of the NC in Assembly Abdul Rahim Rather said the state has been facing shortage of funds for developmental activities because of increase in expenditures.
However, he said the flagship programmes of Union Government under Bharat Nirman were very important for states like Jammu and Kashmir.
Mr Rather has stressed the need for taking full advantage of these schemes by prompt, efficient and effective implementation.
Addressing the valedictory session of three day Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign organised by Press Information Bureau, Srinagar in central Kashmir, he said the states like Jammu and Kashmir can benefit from flagship programmes of the Central Government in which huge funding is now a days available for the development of basic infrastructure.
He however, lamented that the present state government has not been able to take full advantage of these schemes and many a times in recent months Union Rural Development Minister and other central authorities have publicly said that Jammu and Kashmir is slow in achieving targets under various schemes of the Bharat Nirman.
The leader of the opposition lauded the effort of PIB for organising first such Public Information Campaign in Kashmir Valley and hoped that this would go a long way in enhancing awareness about the centrally sponsored schemes.
He urged the district level officers to work dedicatedly to take advantage of these schemes.
Mr Rather also urged people to actively participate in implementation of these schemes and keep a vigil on the implementation agencies also.
