Marxist MP alleges US pressure on Indian entities
New Delhi, Nov 30 (UNI) Alleging that the State Bank of India was refusing line of credit to Indian exporters through Iranian banks, on the hit list of United States' sanctions, a Marxist member today sought the government's response, saying it was adversely affecting exports from India to Iran.
Raising the issue in the lower house during the Zero Hour, Rupchand Pal(CPI-M) asked why should the state-owned Indian bank succumb to unilteral action by the U S and stop doing business with three Iranian banks. He reminded that the US had imposed the sanctions on the banks and not the United Nations.
The Left MP said S R India, an Indian subsidiary of US company S R international, was recently barred by its parent company from taking over an Iranian company. Such actions were bound to hit Indian exports, he added.
