Kerala HC issues notice to striking doctors

Kochi, Dec 1 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today issued notice through a special messenger to the striking Kerala Government Medical Officers' Association.

A Division Bench, comprising Chief Justice H L Dattu and Justice K M Joseph, also issued notice to the State Government and orally directed it to clarify whether over a month-long strike had affected the state machinery.

The Bench posted further hearing of the petition, filed by one Dr Ganapathy, to December five.

The petitioner had prayed to the court to declare the strike as unconstitutional and also asked the Government to invoke the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) against the striking doctors.
