Kerala Bamboo Fest-2007 begins Dec 6

Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 1(UNI) Kerala Bamboo Fest-2007, aimed at finding a market for bamboo products, will be held at Ernakulam from December six to nine.

More than 100 stalls would be put up to exhibit a variety of products from bamboo, palm leaves and cane and modern machineries for its production in the four-day-long fest in which 12 states would take part, a release said here today.

Handicraft workers from Nagaland, Meghalaya, Assam, West Bengal, Uttaranchal, Mizoram and Sikkim and research agencies and machinery companies from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra would take part.

The other objective of the fest, organised jointly by Industry, Commerce Department and State Bamboo Mission, was to bring experts and important agencies under one umbrella and exchange the experience, make familiar the modern techniques to traditional workers in the field, creating a good relationship between research agencies and industrialists and paving way for finding markets for products made of bamboo, cane and palm, it said.
