Indian Justice Party stages agitation over 'Aaja Nachle'

New Delhi, Dec 1 (UNI) The Indian Justice Party today staged an agitation in front of a theatre in south Delhi, demanding that Madhuri Dikshit-starrer film 'Aaja Nachle', whose title song whipped up a storm among the Dalit community, be shown in theatres only after the removal of the objectionable lyrics.

Addressing the agitators at PVR Saket, party president Udit Raj said the film was still being screened in theatres without dropping the objectionable line, which Dalit leaders had raised an objection to, alleging the song had derogatory insinuations against the community.

He said the objectionable line in the song making casteist aspersions on a cobbler give the impression that a cobbler's job is menial and disrespectful.

Mr Raj said Censor Board chief Sharmila Tagore is also partly responsible for allowing those lines and it also showed the mindsets of the Director and the Producer of the film towards Dalits.
