Hyderabad, Dec 1 (UNI) Maintaining that the CPI-M was striving only for a third alternative to the fronts led by the Congress and the BJP, Polit Bureau member Sitaram Yechury today said the party was adopting a 'wait and watch'' approach towards the TDP.

The CPI(M) was against any ''hotch-potch'' arrangement among parties opposed to the Congress and the BJP, he told newspersons here.

The Marxist leader said his party could consider any understanding with the TDP only after reviewing its stand on various economic issues.

Replying to a question, he said the CPI(M) was yet to see a ''positive output'' from any review of the economic policies by the TDP.

He cited in this context, TDP President and United National Progressive Alliance(UNPA) convener N Chandrababu Naidu's reported observation that it was because of the ''new liberal economic policies,'' the state's revenue had increased several folds.

Asked about party's relations with the Congress, he said it was limited to seat adjustments.

While it was supporting the United Progressive Alliance Government from outside, based on a Common Minimum Programme, it was acting independently in the state and there could be no comparison between party's relations with the Congress at the Centre and in the state, he added.
