Cabinet nod for Rajiv Gandhi Varsity of Technologies

Hyderabad, Dec 1 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet today gave its approval for setting up Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies in the three regions of the state to provide educational programmes with broad professional education, including soft skills, on par with best universities in the world.

Briefing newsmen after a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, Information Minister A Ramanarayan Reddy said the proposed educational institutions would be set up one each at Basara in Telangana, Nuzivedu in Coastal Andhra and Idupulapaya in Rayalaseema from 2008-09 academic year.

These institutions would cater primarily to the needs of meritorious rural youth in the fields of Information Technology, Engineering and such branches of learning as it might be deemed fit and, in particular, to make special provisions for integrated courses in humanities and social sciencies in the educational programmes.
