Ban on gender-detection kit sought in Lok Sabha

New Delhi, Nov 30 (UNI) A Lok Sabha member from Uttar Pradesh today sought a ban on medical kits being widely used in Punjab for determining the gender of unborn children.

Expressing concern over the high infant mortality in the country, Shailendra Kumar(SP) claimed that five crore infants had either been aborted in the womb or died later and urged the government to send a central team to Punjab find out how widespread the use of the medical kit was.

He demanded a ban on the medical kit to check the deteriorating gender ratio in Punjab.
