Five injured in suicide bid in Tamil Nadu

Tiruchirapalli, Dec 1: A middle-aged woman was seriously hurt and her husband and three young children received severe burns at suburban Ponmalaipetti last night.

Police said Devi, wife of Chandran, a mason, had a quarrel with her husband and attempted to immolate herself by poursing kerosene at their house.

Chandran, who rushed to save his wife, was also injured. As the fire spread to the mattress on which the three young girl children were sleeping, they also received severe burns.

All of them were rushed to the Government Headquarters Hospital here where the condition of Devi was said to be critical. The others were recovering, police added.
