Patiala, Nov 30 (UNI) A massive protest against moves of State Bank of India to merge associate banks was held today before Head office of State Bank of Patiala.

More than 300 officers and bank employees shoted anti-merger slogans during a demonstration and later staged a dharna.

General Secretary Associate Banks Officers Association (SBP) unit Amar Singh, while addressing the protesters stated that all the unions and associations were opposing the merger move as all the Associate Banks are showing good performance.

Gen Secy All India SBP Employees Federation N K Gaur stated that the unions will continue to oppose all ''ill moves'' of State Bank of India Management.

Both the leaders warned that all the employees and officers will observe full day strike on December 3 and 4 and if the SBI Management went ahead with the move of merger, the agitation would be intensified.
