Rs 3 million for 16 lakh BPL housing units in U P

Lucknow, Nov 30 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh government has released Rs three million for the construction of Mahamaya Grameen Awaas, which would provide shelter to 16 lakh Below Poverty Line (BPL) families.

The information was provided by UP Rural Development Minister Daddu Prasad here today.

''There are at least 16 lakh Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe familes, which are living below the poverty line. Mahamaya Grameen Awaas Yojana has been brought forward to provide shelter to such families,'' Mr Prasad said.

''In the current financial year, 2 lakh houses would be constructed, while shelter would be provided to all the 16 lakh BPL families by the end of 11th Five Year Plan,'' the minister underlined.
