Red Fort bags World Heritage Award

Red
Fort,
popularly
known
as
Lal
Qila,
constructed
by
Mughal
emperor
Shahjahan
was
awarded
world
heritage
status
by
UNESCO
on
November
29th.
The
Director-General
of
United
Nations
Educational,
Scientific
and
Cultural
Organization,
who
was
also
the
chief
guest
for
the
event,
handed
over
the
certificate
to
India's
cultural
secretary.
He
applauded
India's
initiatives
for
conserving
exceptional
heritage
monuments.
