RCF rolles out six more coaches for Science Train

Kapurthala, Nov 30 (UNI) The Rail Coach Factory (RCF) today rolled out six more coaches for Science Exhibition Express which is presently running with six coaches.

Stating this here today, RCF General Manager S K Suri said coaches for the train were manufactured by RCF and exhibits were installed by Max Plank Society of Germany along with Archimedes (specialists in science exhibits). The GM said the cost of the exhibition coaches were about Rs 14 crore, excluding the cost of exhibits provided by Germany.

German Ambassador to India Bernd Muetzelburg today visited here to see the science train. Mr Muetzelburg also visited the RCF workshop to see the manufacturing of coaches.

The RCF General Manager said the science train, which was inaugrated by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi on October 30, would visit 56 cities in the country by June next year to inculcate scientific temper among the youths.

The train has so far visited Delhi, Kalka, Ambala, Jammu, Amritsar and Jalandhar where it attracted large number of students to see the exhibits.

The train today left for Haridwar for its onward journey.

More than 10,000 students from Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Sultanpur Lodhi and Tarn Taran have visited the RCF during the last two days to see the science train.
