Post-metric scholarship for minority students:CCEA

New Delhi, Nov 30 (UNI)The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) today gave its approval for a 100 per cent Centrally- sponsored scheme of Post-metric scholarship for students belonging to the minority communities with a target of awarding 15 lakh scholarship during 2007-08 during eleventh Five Year Plan.

The awardees will be selected on the basis of merit-cum-means criteria, studying in India in Government or private higher secondary schools/ colleges/ universities in states and union territories.

The scholarship scheme to be launched this year, will cost Rs 1530 crore during the eleventh Five Year Plan and will be implemented by the Ministry of Minority Affairs.
