Maoist violence: Madhesi exodus continues

Gonda, Nov 30 (UNI) The exodus of Madhesis from Nepal continues, following the maoist violence in the Himalayam kingdom.

Madhesis are the people of Indian origin living in Nepal for several decades.

Official sources said here today, the Madhesis were coming to the border districts, including Maharajganj, Siddharthnagar, Balrampur, Bahraich and Shravasti.

Meanwhile, the security apparatus had been tightened along the 360-km Indo-Nepal border, following apprehensions of narcotics and fake currency smuggling in wake of the exodus from Nepal.

The Madhesis alleged cruelty at the hands of Maoists and continued violence in Nepal as the main reason for their migration.

So far, several thousands of the Madhesis have left Nepal for India, sources added.
