Mah Council accords farewell to retiring members

Nagpur, Nov 30 (UNI) The Maharashtra Legislative Council accorded a cordial farewell to 12 members whose term of membership would be ending on February 20, 2008.

The farewell was accorded to Dr M A Aziz, Sudha Joshi, Ramesh Nicose, Dhondiram Rathod, Dhanaji Sathe, Major Sudhir Sawant (all Congress), Jitendra Awhad, Gurunath Kulkarni, Prof Fauzia Khan, Vasant Chavan, Jagannath Shewale and Girish Gandhi (all NCP).

The farewell resolution was tabled by Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil.

Leader of Opposition Pandurang Phundkar, Madhukar Sarpotdar (Shiv Sena), B T Deshmukh, Diliprao Sonawane (both independents), Sudhakar Gangane (Congress) and others expressed their views.
