Ahmedabad, Nov 30 (UNI) Ahmedabad-based New Socialist Movement (NSM) has lodged a complaint with the Chief Election Commissioner alleging that the BJP, while publishing ''Jitega Gujarat'' advertisements, had violated the Code of Conduct.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Election Commissioner, NSM assistant general secretary S H Iyer said since last few days, the BJP had been publishing advertisements under the title ''Jitega Gujarat'' in several newspapers.

The advertisement, which carries a large-sized photograph of Chief Minister Narendra Modi, had cast aspersions on the Banerjee Commission report that went into the causes of the fire in the S-6 coach of Sabarmati Express at Godhra in 2002.

The NSM has said the issue, whether the burning of S-6 coach was a pre-planned conspiracy was under investigation by the Nanavati-Shah Commission, and the report of Justice U C Banerjee was also the subject matter of challenge before the Gujarat High Court.

Therefore, the advertisement ''Jitega Gujarat'' directly interferes with the due course of administration of justice, especially since the advertisement portrays the picture of the Chief Minister.

The NSM has urged the Election Commission to take immediate notice of the advertisement and disqualify the candidature of Narendra Modi, and also take appropriate action against the BJP for issuing such advertisements.
