'World has become small in globalised era '

Udupi, Nov 29: In the present globalised era the world has become small and let them first define ''foreign'', Puthige seer said.

Briefing the newspersons, his reactions on the proposals made by other Swamijis of Asta mutt, headed by the pontiff of Pejavar mutt, Puthige seer said visiting a foregin nation was not a crime. No proof was available on prohibition of visiting a foreign country, he added.

Asserting his views on the foreign trip to America, the seer said that anyone who had visited a foreign nation or stayed there should not be treated as a culprit or a looser of sanctity.

On the appointment of a junior for conducting Sri Krishna Pooja, the seer pointed that he approached several seers seeking there views on the issue. But there was no proper response.

He said the proposals were forwarded when the preparations, for his third term of Paryaya, were made in full swing and now there was no immediate plan for appointment of any junior seer to his mutt, he clarified.

The pontiff said he had just received the jointly signed letter and the proposals made by the other Swamijis of Asta mutt.

''I have to go through it before making any comment,'' he said.

He announced that he would start his Karnataka tour from today from Uttar Kannada and would return to Udupi on December 28.

On whether he would ascend the Paryaya peeta on January 18 next, the seer said it was left to the decision of Lord Sri Krishna.

Meanwhile, Sri Laxmivara Thirtha swamiji of Udupi Shiroor mutt today told newspersons he would fully support the views of Puthige seer. There was no crime in going abroad.

''Even if no Swamijis attend the Paryaya procession starting from Jodukatte on January 18, I will attend the procession,'' he said.
