Former Congress minister beaten up by fellow partyman

Ludhiana, Nov 30 (UNI) A former minister and Congress leader was allegedly beaten up by a party colleague during the course of a marriage function at a marriage palace on Pakhowal road.

The police on the complaint of Malkiat Singh Birmi, a former minister has registered a case against Ashok Kumar alias Pappi, a former general secretary of the Punjab Congress. The case was registered under sections 323, 506, 341, 148 and 149 of the IPC and the Arms Act at Division No-7 police station.

In his complaint Mr Birmi alleged that on Wednesday night Pappi had beaten him and even threatened him with a weapon. The police is yet to arrest the alleged accused.
