Cong asks TDP to offer apology for Basheerbagh police firing

Hyderabad, Nov 30 (UNI) The Congress in Andhra Pradesh today demanded the TDP to tender a public apology, owing responsiblity for the Basheerbagh police firing incident.

Talking to newspersons here, Congress spokesperson N Tulasi Reddy and Party state Farmers Wing President Kodand Reddy said the Basheerbagh incident took place during TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu's regime and they should offer an apology for it.

They charged the TDP with making a host of ''false promises'' at its politburo meeting, eyeing next Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.

Mr Chandrababu Naidu had a ''poor'' track record of implementing the election promises, Mr Tulasi Reddy alleged.

Farmers in the state would not be carried away by his new set of promises. Mr Naidu during his rule had failed to do anything for the farmers, Mr Kodand Reddy said.

On Comptroller and Auditor General(CAG) report, highlighting ''irregularities'' in major irrigation projects, Mr Tulasi Reddy said the report would be scrutinised first by Public Accounts Committee. The state government would place the Action Taken Report in the Assembly later.
