Centre to take up quality control of Ayurveda medicines:CCEA
New Delhi, Nov 30 (UNI) The government will implement the revised Rs 225 crore Centrally-sponsored scheme for the quality control of ayurveda, siddha, unani and homoeopathy drugs during the eleventh Five Year Plan.
The scheme is meant to improve and upgrade the infrastructure of drug testing laboratories, state pharmacies and enforcement mechanism of ASU drugs at state level to ensure the conforming of the manuctured medicines and practices to that of WHO's manufacturing practices to promote export of such drugs.
Besides, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) today approved implementation of scheme, development of AYUSH institutions with plan outlay of Rs 550 crore in 11th Plan.
Ther financial assistance for the government and government-aided Ayush colleges will be scaled up from Rs 62 lakh to Rs two crore for under-Graduate Colleges; from Rs 2 crore to Rs 3 crore for post graduate colleges and from Rs 3 crore to Rs 5 crore for model Ccolleges.
