Verdict in Mahajan case expected before Christmas

Mumbai, Nov 29 (UNI) The verdict in BJP leader Pramod Mahajan's murder trial is expected before the Christmas Vacations as final arguments from both the prosecution and defence sides are expected to conclude by end of next week.

Special Public Prosecutor Nitin Pradhan today completed the pre-argument formalities. The prosecution will finish their part of arguments by Monday and thereafter the defence will take another three-four days. Given this schedule, the final verdict is expected well before the Christmas Vacations.

Today, while starting the arguments, Pradhan claimed that the prosecution had been succesfull in proving both the charges of intentional murder and criminal trespass against accused Pravin Mahajan beyond reasonable doubt.

He reiterated that the BJP leader died a homicidal death as a consequence of assault committed by accused Pravin on April 22, 2006.
