Jaipur, Nov 29 (UNI) The Rajasthan High Court today stayed the implementation of state government's notification for regularisation of commercial activities being run in residential areas in different cities.

A Division Bench, comprising Mr Justices RM Lodha and RS Chauhan, while hearing a petition filed by a citizen Gitesh Khanna, also issued notices to the Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary Urban Development, JDA Commissioner, Localself Department Secretary, Chief Townplanner, Jaipur Mayor and Jaipur Municipal Corporation Chief Executive Office.

The notices are returnable by January 25 next year.

The petitioner had challenged the notification of October 22 issued by the Urban Development Department to regularise the commercial activities in residential areas of cities with a population over one lakh.

The notification was issued to implement the cabinet's decision taken in Jodhpur on August 23 earlier this year.

The petitioner had appealed to the court to set aside the cabinet's decision.
